Alamo Press
Alamo Press is an award winning publisher founded in 2008 by historian Art Martinez de Vara. Alamo Press publishes non-fiction works of history, culture and genealogy for those who love Texas and its rich heritage. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts for consideration.
In 2015, Alamo Colleges District-Northwest Vista College (NVC) partnered with the American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions to develop a digital archive of indigenous and Tejano history, culture, and records. The partnership has dedicated its efforts to assist in the publication of related records, such as those of El Carmen Church in Losoya, Texas. Understanding that most of the remaining undiscovered resources are held in private collections, the partnership initiated efforts in the San Antonio Mission communities, and outlying enclaves, such as Losoya, Von Ormy, and Somerset, to uncover and digitize records held in private and family archives. Alamo Press joined the partnership in 2017 to facilitate the publication of books in the area of study under the series title “Northwest Vista College Series on Texas History.” NVC faculty set and maintain the academic stantards for works published under the series. Authors who wish to contribute a manuscript for consideration should contact Alamo Press using the contact form.
